Philosophy

How I think about building.

    The problem is the work

    Most product failures are correctly-built answers to badly-framed questions. Time spent sharpening the problem statement is the highest-leverage time available, and it is almost always the first thing cut.

  • 02

    Ship to learn, not to launch

    A release is an experiment with consequences. The point of shipping early is not speed for its own sake - it's converting opinion into evidence while the cost of being wrong is still low.

    Constraints are the design

    Unlimited scope produces incoherent products. The decisions that define a product are the ones about what it will refuse to do, and those decisions have to be made deliberately rather than by attrition.

  • 04

    Technology serves the outcome

    New capability is only interesting where it changes the economics of a problem. Knowing when a model is the answer requires equally knowing the many cases where it is expensive theater.

I’m an Software Engineer at RestroEngage, with a background spanning full-stack development, applied machine learning, data engineering, and the product and requirements work around them. That range is useful less for what it lets me build than for what it lets me judge - which technical bets are worth their cost, and which are expensive detours.
